Our next reusable coffee cup review is from Australian company Onya.
Onya have been operating in Fremantle since 2004 and are well known for their reusable shopping bags- but they also have their own unique take on the reusable coffee cup. It looks like a takeaway coffee cup, without any of the environmental guilt. What is it made of?
The Onya reusable coffee cup is made from 100% foodsafe silicone which means it’s light and durable and most importantly (for some sensitive tastebuds) doesn’t affect the taste of the coffee or hold onto smells itself.
Silicone is 100% recyclable however you will need to find a specialist recycling plant that handles silicone (we couldn't find one in Perth). However, given the durable nature of silicone you should never need to throw it away right?
Is it portable?
The Onya reusable coffee cup is very portable in that you can throw it in your bag or even squeeze it into your back pocket on your way to the coffee shop, however as the silicone is flexible once it’s full of coffee you have to be careful not to squeeze the cup or it may spill.
We like that the durability of silicone means you could drive over it and it would be fine, and given that it’s easy to squash into your bag you can keep it on you at all times for uses beyond coffee – like icecream or hot chips!
Is it easy to clean?
The silicone cup is easy to clean and can be thrown into the dishwasher.
Is it barista friendly?
The Onya reusable cup is barista friendly and comes in three standard sizes.

The Onya reusable coffee cups are responsibly made in China. Onya are very conscientious with their suppliers and have made sure they’ve engaged people they trust, they’ve actually gone to China to check out the manufacturing process!
What is the company philosophy?
Onya have a very focused on making products that can be kept ‘on you’ as a great alternative to single use plastic. Not only are their products 100% recyclable, but they are also made out of recycled material such as rPET, a fabric produced from recycled plastic water bottles. Their business practice is not only sustainable, but ethical.
